Asymmetric hydrogenation of quinazolinium salts was catalysed by halogen-bridged dinuclear iridium complexes bearing chiral diphosphine ligands, yielding tetrahydroquinazoline and 3,4-dihydroquinazoline with high enantioselectivity.
